I took this picture of the memorial to the composer Sir Benjamin Britten on Aldburgh beach in Suffolk in September last year. It was designed by the artist Maggi Hamblin and I recommend going to see it in real life if you can, because I don't think that any photograph could do it true justice. However, I have tried my best.

my god. that is amazingly WONDERFUL!! I LOVE IT!!!  -- Buckle up  it's all downhill from here... It's an amazing sculpture which just stands all alone on the shingle beach. The words on it come from a chorus in the opera "Peter Grimes" which I think is based in Aldburgh, Suffolk. Which is where Sir Benjamin Britten lived for the final years of his life with his friend the singer Peter Peers. Hence the memorial being on the beach. If you ever come to England I really do recommend going to see it.

I would estimate that at its highest point the memorial is about 9ft or 3m high. It's massive!
